Who can donate plasma?
- Recently India has launched plasma Therapy for Treatment of corona virus (covid-19). But everybody has curiosity about this Plasma Therapy that what is it and how to work it. Today we will clear your curiosity regarding this topic. So we will discuss and share some information about this. So let’s discuss..
- So first time India has launched Plasma Bank in Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday (July 2) inaugurated India's first plasma bank at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in Delhi. The purpose of this bank is to collect plasma from corona free patients for treatment of covid-19.
1. What is a plasma bank?
Plasma bank is also same as Blood bank, like
doctor collect your blood for blood bank, same as plasma would be collected
from corona free patients for treatment of covid-19.
- Actually who are eligible to donate plasma, this bank will contact those patients for donation. And this would be use totally for experiment and if it may success then it will be used for treatment of covid-19. I think it will work definitely.
- And seven
hospitals in Delhi
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Maulana Azad Medical
College (MAMC), Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Batra Hospital, Lady
Hardinge Medical College, Lady Hardinge Medical College, have been
approved to experiment with plasma therapy on corona patients.
2. What
is Plasma Therapy?
Plasma therapy is such a Therapy
that may treatment of covid-19. Actually plasma would be collected from those
patients who have recovered from the corona. This plasma is similar as blood donation. The difference between
Plasma and Blood donation is only plasma would be
removed from the blood and other components of the blood would be returned to
the donor's body. Blood
has many components, such as red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells,
and plasma but in these components, plasma would be collected from blood.
- Actually Plasma will be used as a vaccine of covid-19. The patient who have recovered from the corona virus (covid-19), doctor will collect blood from them and it will work as anti-body actually when you be affected by the virus or bacteria then your immune system create anti-body to defect them and recover you. This anti-body stay in your body as a plasma cell.
- So Doctor will collect this anti-body or plasma and would be injected to those patients who are affected by the covid-19.
3. Who can donate plasma?
Plasma would be taken from those patients
who have recovered from the corona, and then 14 days have passed. Plasma
donors must be between 18 and 60 years of age, and have a minimum body weight
of 50 kg.
4. Whom should not to donate plasma?
Women who have just
given birth cannot give plasma, as the antibodies that are produced in the body
during pregnancy can interfere with the normal movement of the lungs. Plasma
should not be given even if you have side effects such as diabetes,
hypertension, or cancer. The bank collects approximately 500 ml of plasma from a donor
based on body weight.
